The internationally acclaimed musicians and ceremonial artists Xochimoki take audiences on a global journey celebrating the music of native peoples. Instruments include Mayan trumpets, deer antlers, turtle shells, and butterfly cocoons. Ballet Folclórico do Brasil's explosive capoeira and other dances reflect the rich fusion of Brazil's African, Portuguese, and indigenous influences.

Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco

On Friday, Oct 15 from 6:30 - 8:30pm, Xochimoki (Jim Berenholtz and Mazatl Galindo) perform a concert with ancient Mayan instruments at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco, in conjunction with the exhibit "Courtly Art of the Ancient Maya" (Sept 4 to Jan 2). The program will also include ritual, dance, and visual projections of ancient Mayan temples and pyramids photographed by Jim on his many journeys through Mayaland. This program is part of the "Magnificent Maya Fridays" evening event series at the Legion of Honor Museum during the course of the Maya exhibition.

General admission for the concert is $8; entrance into the exhibit is an additional $7.
